India Privacy Notice
Last updated: 24 October 2026
This notice is for people in India. It explains, under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, which personal data Kuruvi processes about you when you use a Kuruvi account, why, and how you can use your rights. Our full Privacy Policy gives more detail.
It covers personal data for which Kuruvi decides why and how it is processed. Messages that a business's own customers send it through Kuruvi are processed by Kuruvi on that business's behalf; for those, the business is responsible, and you should contact the business.

2. Withdrawing your consent
You can withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it:
- Phone contacts: turn off Kuruvi's contacts permission in your phone's settings.
- Message translation: turn off Translate incoming messages in Edit profile.
- Your account: delete it in the app under Settings, then Delete account.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before it. Some features stop working without the data they need.
3. Your rights
- To get a summary of your personal data we process, and of who we have shared it with: write to privacy@kuruvi.com. Download My Data in Settings also gives you a copy of your profile, conversations, message text and orders.
- To have your personal data corrected, completed, updated or erased: edit your profile in the app, delete your account, or write to privacy@kuruvi.com.
- To nominate someone to use these rights for you if you die or cannot act yourself: write to privacy@kuruvi.com.
- To have a grievance about how we handle your personal data resolved: write to privacy@kuruvi.com. We respond within 90 days at the latest.
When you write to us, write from the email address you sign in with, or give us that email address or phone number and your username, so we can find your account.
4. Complaints to the Data Protection Board of India
If you are not satisfied with our answer to your grievance, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India. The law asks you to raise the grievance with us first. The Board works as a digital office. Make your complaint by the means the Board publishes.
5. Contact
For anything in this notice, write to privacy@kuruvi.com.
6. What the app asks your consent for
These are the requests the Kuruvi app shows before you agree to something or turn it on. The app shows them in English; you can read them here in your language.
- When you create your account: “I agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Kuruvi has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.”
- Before Kuruvi reads your phone's contacts (buttons: Continue, Not now): “Find people you know on Kuruvi. Kuruvi checks the phone numbers and email addresses in your contacts against Kuruvi accounts, so you can see who is here and message them. They are used for that check only and are not saved.”
- Before message translation is turned on (buttons: Cancel, Turn on): “About translation. Messages you receive in other languages are sent to Google Cloud Translation to be translated. Translations are made by a machine and can be wrong. Check anything important. The original message is always kept and stays one tap away. You can turn this off at any time.”
